Yes, somehow it is already back-to-school season. And with that comes the need for pencils, back packs, notebooks, food for school lunches, and other resources.
That’s why Reconnect to Opportunity (ReOpp) is hosting its fourth annual drive-through High School Resource Fair on August 17, where organizations will be handing out free back packs, school supplies, food boxes, and neat prizes.
What: High School Resource Fair
When: 3 to 5 pm, Thursday, August 17
Where: YouthSource Tukwila parking lot, 645 Andover Park W., Tukwila 98188
ReOpp is a reengagement program that connects young people ages 16 to 24 to education and employment resources.
At the fair you can have a chance to meet the incredible Reconnect to Opportunity interns!
Hear what they have to say about themselves and their work in their own words:
Echo, Sammamish I am a rising senior at Skyline High School in Sammamish. In my free time, I love reading, writing, and singing. As a first-gen immigrant, I recognize and personally experience resource and opportunity disparities among youths. This is why I decided to join the team: Reconnect to Opportunity aligns with my passion and interest in supporting youth to find their own paths to success. I’m very fortunate to have the opportunity to commit myself to the work of providing resources and opportunities necessary for my fellow mates to succeed.
Faith Richardson, pronouns (she/her), Renton I joined ReOpp because of my passion for uplifting marginalized communities. At school, I use my poetry and studies to turn my passion into action. ReOPP has shown me how empowering the community can be a career. I’m grateful for the opportunity to use my passions and new knowledge to keep youth connected to education.
