About this opportunity:
Young people benefit from a full continuum of supports that are culturally responsive and affirm their identity as they grow, learn, and navigate challenges. To ensure they get the support they need, Best Starts partners with community members and organizations to collaborate on policies and programs that provide connection to community, treatment, recovery support, or crisis intervention. In September, Best Starts, the Raikes Foundation, and other community partners announced the launch of the King County Youth Well-Being Network Partnership (KC-WYN) that will pilot three community-led mental health sites to improve young people’s well-being.
This RFP is seeking a lead organization to partner with the Renton area-based site. The goal of these pilot sites is to help young people thrive by connecting current referral systems to broader promotion and prevention supports such as youth leadership, arts, and cultural opportunities. They are designed to improve youth behavioral health, educational success, housing stability, and reduce use of crisis systems of care.
Eligibility:
This request is open to nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations, tribes and tribal organizations, for-profit entities and public or governmental agencies serving communities in the City of Renton, the Renton School District, and/or adjacent areas of unincorporated King County service areas (e.g. Skyway, Fairwood and East Renton Highlands). Small nonprofits and community-based organizations are encouraged to submit proposals. Organizations with a demonstrated history of partnerships in the geographic region will be most competitive.
Funding available:
Public Health has the budgeted amount not to exceed ($500,000) per award from January 2027-December 2029 for this project. Proposals in excess of $500,000 will be considered incomplete and will not be evaluated. We anticipate funding one organization for the three-year award period.
