New Literature Review: Learn about community-driven capital projects

The rising cost of real estate across King County impacts low-income communities and Black, Indigenous People of Color hardest. That’s why Best Starts’ investments in capital projects are driven by a racial and economic equity focus that brings community members and organizations to the table.

The Best Starts Evaluation team released a literature review this year that looks at the ways investments in community-led capital projects support community-wellbeing, and what it looks like to lead these projects with meaningful community engagement.

According to the literature review, making sure communities lead the vision for development can result in a stronger sense of place, empowerment, and community control over neighborhood change.

The literature review pulls together case studies as well as applied and academic research papers looking at community-driven development.
