Child and Adolescent Immunizations

Published November 16, 2025

The Child and Adolescent Immunizations strategy focuses on a key collaboration with the Washington Child Health Improvement Partnership (WA-CHIP), a regional collaboration of public and private partners that uses measure-based efforts and a systems approach to improve child and adolescent vaccine coverage.

The WA-CHIP Champions for Youth Steering Committee identifies and addresses impacts of systemic barriers to vaccine delivery, including breakdowns in the vaccine supply chain, young people’s access to health care, vaccine hesitancy, and the emergent and changing healthcare needs of the community as identified by primary care and school partners. The WA-CHIP Immunizations Learning Collaborative brings together pediatric healthcare providers to apply structured quality improvement methods designed to improve the delivery of immunization services and access to care, build and exchange knowledge, and facilitate collaborations.

Best Starts anticipates reaching approximately 3-7 clinics and 6,000-20,000 children and adolescents annually through quality improvement work.

This strategy invests in:

Sustaining the Gain (ages 5 – 24)

so that young people have equitable opportunities to be safe, healthy, and thriving.

Funding Estimate (2022-2027):

$2,853,000
