About this opportunity

We know that the care provided by child care providers and caregivers is critical to supporting the growth and development of babies from an early age so that they can grow into happy and thriving young adults. To support children across King County in child care settings, we are excited to share this RFP and deepen our investments and partnerships with community-based organizations to deliver comprehensive Child Care Health Consultation (CCHC) services to child care providers!

CCHC is a collaborative partnership between a trusted consultant and families, caregivers, and child care providers to promote optimal physical and emotional health, safety, and development of children in their care through tailored consultation, training, and other supports. This Best Starts strategy area defines “child care providers” broadly, as inclusive of family, friend, and neighbor caregivers (FFN) and providers in license-exempt and licensed child care programs.

Eligibility

This request is open to nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations, tribes and tribal organizations and public or governmental agencies serving communities in King County. Small nonprofits and community-based organizations are encouraged to submit proposals.

We recognize that child care health consultation is a niche service area that requires expertise in health, working with child care providers, caregivers, and young children, and community-specific approaches. Reflecting that, partnerships and collaborations that leverage multiple agencies’ strengths are encouraged (one lead organization should submit the proposal on the partnership’s behalf).

Eligible applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience serving child care providers
  • Demonstrated experience serving the focus community (as defined by applicant) in their primarily language

We invest in a range of CCHC services to be delivered by community-based organizations and agencies across geography, diversity of community, and types of child care so that we can leverage these communities’ strengths to meet the range of needs in the County.
