Communities of Opportunity (COO) is now accepting proposals for community partnerships to create change that will contribute to greater health and well-being. This RFP will invest in partnerships that focus on geographic/place-based communities and cultural communities.
Social, economic and racial equity and social justice is foundational to the work of COO. For many in our region, King County is a great place to live, learn, work and play. Yet we have deep and persistent inequities, especially by race and place that in many cases are getting worse and threaten our collective prosperity. Investments under this RFP will address these inequities.
We seek to support and invest in partnerships that:
- Are reflective of and embedded in the communities they serve
- Draw on the strengths and assets of these communities
- Focus on community connections, economic opportunity, health, and safe, affordable housing.
Applications are due to Public Health Seattle & King County by Thursday January 11th by 2pm.
Partnerships are eligible for funding of up to $300,000/year ($600,000 over the investment period).
The investment period for this RFP will be from May 1, 2018 to April 30, 2020. Eligible partnerships must fulfill one of the following criteria:
- Represent and be driven by leaders within a geographic area.
- Represent and be driven by leaders in isolated rural communities with significant disparities compared to areas in which they are located and have other indicators of disparities which may result in poor health and wellbeing outcomes in a community.
- Represent and be driven by leaders within a cultural community
