High-quality after-school and summer programs support our children and young people’s education, social emotional well-being and overall health and well-being. In partnership with School’s Out Washington, Best Starts for Kids funds and partners with organizations that provide high-quality programming for young people between the ages of 5-13 through a range of activities including academic enrichment, cultural and social development activities, physical activity and health promotion, arts education, and leadership development. School’s Out Washington also provides coaching and training opportunities to support partners in strengthening program quality and incorporating best practices for how they interact with and engage youth.
The Expanded Learning strategy continues the two funding models from the first levy: Place-based partnerships in schools and housing complexes, and Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC)-led organizations. The Expanded Learning strategy is formerly known as Out-of-School Time.
