COVID-19 is forcing many to rethink organizational communications, including communications for policy, advocacy and organizing work, fundraising, community engagement and much more. This RFP is a solicitation for an organization or individual/consultant to create and coordinate a learning and technical assistance (TA) series for COO community-based organizations to develop and strengthen communications skills and strategies. The learning series may include activities that are progressively designed to build on one another and/or stand-alone events and activities. Facilitation and content/curricula may be subcontracted. The Communications Capacity Building Lead will lead planning, coordination and documentation of a series of capacity building activities with COO grantees and aligned organizations (COO).

Eligibility

Individuals, organizations (non-profit, private, and public corporations), or teams with demonstrated expertise to perform the scope of work are eligible to apply.

Investment Available and Contract Term

Up to $75,000 is available and includes coordination and implementation costs. Implementation costs may be moved to COO Learning Community Administrator if applicant lacks ability to make direct payments. The contract term is for 14 months (11/1/20 – 12/31/21), with an option to increase or extend depending on funding availability, contractor performance, and project need.

Measuring Indigenous identities: learnings from Best Starts’ evaluation team

The exclusion and erasure of Indigenous people in data is rooted in colonial research practices that are deeply embedded in Western systems of data. Indigenous people have always a collected, analyzed, and shared data in their own ways that have been ignored and discounted by many “mainstream” data projects. This underscores the need to rethink race and ethnicity measures with Indigenous people, organizations, and Native nations.
