Last night, we launched our first of several community conversations as the planning continues for Best Starts for Kids. A big thanks to all of you who took time on a beautiful Thursday evening to talk about the plan and help us gauge if we are moving in the right direction. This was just the start of a series of conversations we will be holding throughout the next several weeks. The next one is scheduled for Wednesday, April 13 at Shoreline Conference Center. Background: King County is working to write an implementation plan that will reflect the input received from the community and the Children and Youth Advisory Board. We anticipate having the implementation plan available online for community input in mid-May. This will be another opportunity for thoughtful feedback. King County Executive Dow Constantine will submit the plan to County Council on June 1, 2016. The County Council will be reviewing the plan through the summer, with anticipation of approval in the fall of 2016.
The work does not stop! The summer will be filled with ongoing work with community organizations and stakeholders to think deeply about the development of an RFP process. The goal is to ensure there is a process for getting dollars into the community that is inclusive of the diverse needs across King County.
We look forward to a busy and eventful spring, summer and fall ensuring that we are getting the Best Start for Kids in our community.
