Over the course of the next two weeks, we are highlighting high school graduates across King County. In these unprecedented times, many of us feel overwhelmed with the idea of suddenly having to be “teachers” to our children, while still trying to be parents, employees, partners, and individuals. Zeno co-designs math education programs with the people that will use them, building relationships with families, kids and educators that open the door to a lifetime of limitless possibilities. With support from our Best Starts Innovation Fund, Zeno is developing a full educational package in Oromo, with the community's guidance. Improving Family Outcomes by Meeting Basic Needs
Since 2018, Best Starts for Kids has supported WestSide Baby and Eastside Baby Corner to provide basic resources to King County families. In just the first six months of 2019, these two organizations worked with 115 partner agencies to distribute resources to 6,867 households and nearly 14,000 children. Partner Highlight: Urban Native Education Alliance
Despite attempted erasure, Native peoples proudly claim their place and cultural identity. Best Starts’ funding supported Clear Sky, UNEA’s youth empowerment program and their critical work to have Licton Springs designated as the first landmark site honoring the indigenous people of the Seattle area.
