Technical Assistance & Capacity Building

Published November 18, 2025

Best Starts recognizes that many organizations, and the communities they serve, have historically experienced barriers to funding opportunities from government agencies such as King County. To address this, Best Starts provides free Technical Assistance (TA) to remove linguistic, cultural, and procedural obstacles that might prevent qualified organizations from seeking Best Starts funding.

By partnering with TA consultants who bring a wide range of skills, areas of expertise, and language abilities, applicants can determine whether their programs are an appropriate fit for Best Starts RFPs, review drafts, refine budgets, and more.

Best Starts Capacity Building (CB) support is available to Best Starts-awarded organizations to provide and co-create information, tools, and resources to strengthen their infrastructure, address service gaps, and build capacity. Best Starts matches organizations with capacity building consultants according to their need and they offer individualized, responsive coaching and training to support organizations’ capabilities, including financial management, human resources, data and evaluation, IT, marketing, board governance, etc. Best Starts also offers small grants that strengthen fiscal, evaluation and programmatic systems of Best Starts-awarded organizations.
