Child Care workers: join an upcoming summit to learn about the impact of government investments in the workforce

Published November 6, 2025

Join the upcoming Child Care Worker Summit November 15! If you work in a child care facility, or support child care work, register to attend the summit where you learn about findings from the Best Starts for Kids Child Care Worker Wage Boost Pilot.

The Best Starts for Kids Child Care workgroup is hosting the summit. They are a group of child care workers in King County who support the development of the Pilot, its research and seek to drive systematic change. The workgroup is multiracial, and made up of workers with different experiences in child care, and come from all corners of the County.

The workgroup is hosting this Summit to bring together more King County providers to learn about the long-term goals of the Pilot and provide opportunities for other providers to share experiences and input to inform the Pilots legacy.

The Pilot is studying the benefits – to community, families, workers, businesses, and the economy — of government investment in the child care workforce. This event  brings together child care providers throughout the King County region to hear updates about the Pilot and learn together.

The Summit is for ALL providers throughout the King County region, regardless of your status within the Pilot itself.

We will be providing:

  • 2 STARs credits for trainings in the afternoon
  • Lunch, Halal and Vegetarian options available
  • Children are welcome, but there will not be specific child care available
  • Spanish and Somali interpretation
  • On-site parking

Our goals for the summit include:

  • Learning about other efforts across the country to raise the wages of child care workers
  • Hearing from Pilot learning partners what they have heard from the King County workforce in their first workforce study
  • Hearing from child care workers on the Pilot workgroup on their reflections to learnings from the survey
  • Learning in small groups to build skills and knowledge
