This year, Supportive Childcare Provider Alliance (SCPA) celebrated 27 childcare providers who completed the SCPA Childcare Business 101 training series. The series is designed for new, emerging, and existing childcare providers, who attended 10 sessions over 2 months to learn about child development, licensing, business operations, and financial management.

SCPA strengthens the knowledge, skill, health, and confidence of child care providers so they have what they need to thrive as both caregivers and small business owners.
A childcare provider who participated in the Childcare Business 101 training series shared, “This workshop gave me tools I can actually use, and it made me feel seen. We need more workshops like this, and I’m so glad I was able to participate.”
Founded in 2019, SCPA is built by child care providers, for providers – allowing the agency to truly understand the work and challenges firsthand. Because of this, SCPA also conducts one-on-one health consultations, as a Best Starts Child Care Health Consultation strategy partner, to provide culturally relevant support that is tailored to each provider.
Fatima Adam, Executive Director of SCPA, has over 10 years of experience in the child care workforce and is passionate about empowering individuals and families to navigate complex systems, while providing them with resources and assistance to thrive.
“We’re deepening our impact by creating sustainable, culturally relevant tools that providers and families can use long after the consultation ends,” says Fatima.
The organization created an animated video on developmental delays in young children, designed to reduce stigma and encourage early intervention in communities where such conversations are often difficult or avoided.
Fatima shares, “we want this tool to be seen in homes, at childcare sites, and at community events. It’s short, visual, and speaks in ways that resonate.”
Versions of this video will be available soon in Arabic, Dari, Somali, and Spanish.
