We are excited to share that the Best Starts for Kids Workforce Development Mini Grants Request for Applications (RFA) is now open! This funding opportunity closes on Monday, November 18 at 4PM, please submit your application by then.

About this opportunity: 

The prenatal to five workforce does incredible work to support babies, children, and their families. Best Starts Workforce Development strategy focuses on strengthening this workforce by providing opportunities to build knowledge, strengthen skills, and promote shared community healing.  

This RFA seeks to fund smaller organizations (15 employees or fewer) to enhance their workforce skills and knowledge in three key areas of Workforce Development: 

  • Early Childhood Development 
  • Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health 
  • Racial Equity 

Funded items may include, but are not limited to: 

  1. Prenatal to Five focused trainings, conferences, or professional development fees 
  1. Community building activities 
  1. Developing and hosting workshops related to culturally responsive Healthy Childhood Development, Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health and Racial Equity 

Eligibility: 

This RFA is open to small (15 employees or fewer) private agencies, nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations, tribes and tribal organizations, early childhood development centers, licensed childcare centers/programs serving communities in King County.  

Eligible applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications: 

  1. Physical office is based in King County and primarily serving King County residents 
  1. Serve young children and their families within the Prenatal to Five range 
  1. Have less than 15 employees on staff 
  1. Submit a timely application within the scope of work of this RFA 
  1. Professional Development for their workforce in the key areas of Early Childhood Development, Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health and Racial Equity

Funding available: 

We have budgeted up to $150,000 for this project. Applicants may request up to $9,999 in their proposed budget.
