Best Starts Workforce Development (WFD) strategy is hosting an end-of-year speaker series! Our WFD strategy provides training, technical assistance, and peer learning opportunities for early childhood practitioners in King County. These professional development opportunities range in content from racial equity, infant and early childhood mental health, to healthy child development. Learn more about our WFD strategy by reading our one-pager.

Mark your calendars and register for our end-of-year speaker series!

Are you grappling with questions such as: What is anti-racism? What are parents’ and early childhood care-providers’ roles in raising anti-racist children? In which ways has the COVID pandemic contributed to traumatic experiences impacting healthy childhood development?

Our WFD strategy, in collaboration with WestEd, invites you to a series of presentations by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi and Dr. Bruce Perry to discuss these questions. Afterwards, we will follow up with how to apply these concepts in our work in King County.

  • Anti-racism in the Context of Early Childhood Development with Dr. Ibram X. Kendi: Wednesday, December 7, 9:00 am to 11:30 am, Pacific Time – Register here!
  • The Impact of Trauma on Early Childhood Development with Dr. Bruce Perry: Wednesday, December 14, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, Pacific Time – Register here!
