We’re hiring! School-Based SBIRT Prevention Specialist

Best Starts for Kids is hiring a Prevention Specialist to assist with the coordination, management, outreach, planning, and implementation of the school-based screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment or services (SBIRT) model.  Best Starts for Kids SBIRT strategy supports schools to intervene early when substance abuse or mental health challenges interfere with a student’s ability to succeed. The Prevention Specialist will support all aspects of the SBIRT strategy, collaborating with regional partners to promote mental health and prevent substance use for young people ages 12 to 20.

The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of equity and social justice principles and practices, a strong understanding of and experience with SBIRT or similar prevention models, and strong analytical skills.

This position will  function within the Department of Community and Human Services Behavioral Health and Recover Division reporting to School-Based SBIRT Coordinator, and will work closely with the Best Starts implementation team. This will be a Special Duty or Term Limited Temporary (TLT) assignment through approximately 12/31/18.
