If kids aren’t healthy, kids can’t learn

Last week, we announced a funding opportunity through Best Starts to create three new school-based health centers in our region.  School-based health centers are a powerful tool to improve academic achievement and decrease health inequities. As Jonathan Martin points out in his opinion piece,

Studies have also shown the impact on health inequities.  “Students of color are 21 times more likely to see a mental-health therapist in school than in a community clinic.
